Snowflake Challenge Day 1
Snowflake challenge! I was so pleased to see this challenge penetrate my corner of HP fandom a couple of years ago but somehow I’ve never actually done it.
Day 1
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
Unforgivable (Ron/Draco, ~8200 words; dub-con, forced orgasm, humiliation, whipping, object insertion).
Draco has been accepted by everyone but Ron as they attempt to rebuild Hogwarts. Draco makes an agreement with him: Ron will have one night to punish him, and do whatever he likes. After that, he has to forgive him.
It’s dark but I like to think there's sympathy in how both messed-up participants are shown, it's one of my first tries at an unreliable narrator, and it's my best ending. I like that it’s very specific to the HP-verse, particularly in its use of the Unforgivable Curses - I think the best fanfic doesn’t make sense outside of its context, because it uses it to the full.
I Want Your Hard Centre (Not Your Chocolatey Shell) (Neville/Draco; ~5000 words; light bondage, light D/s, a bit of slut-shaming in a non-sexual context).
After the war, Neville goes back to his bumbling, flustered self. Draco hates, hates, HATES it.
This is seventh-year fic that deals (from Draco's perspective) with how much Neville changed during DH and how he might react afterwards. These two are my favourite Nevilles and Dracos I’ve ever written, despite how horrible Draco is as he attempts to get Neville’s attention :) It’s quite meta, which I don’t write often but love doing, and also this is one of those fics that’s incredibly fun to write because it’s deep in Draco’s POV and milks his ridiculousness for comedy value.
Responsible (Harry/Draco; ~4000 words; light D/s, mildly dub-con).
Draco wants to play. He isn’t expecting Harry to bring out a potion for him to take - one to inspire mindless, desperate lust.
I think this one is pretty representative of one of my Things, which is lightly snarky, bantery established-relationship kink between Harry and Draco, where Draco gets pushed close to his limits but has a great time and Harry works very hard at being a good dom. It was tough to write, because writing from the POV of the person in an altered state is generally harder than that of the person enjoying watching it, but I like the results okay.
All right now I need to go and drink tea and stand in a queue and sing God Save The Queen so my countrymen don’t throw me out. Toodles!
