Author’s Notes: Written for [profile] open_on_sunday’s current prompt, lock/key.

Supposedly being locked away was the key to reflection, consideration, enlightenment. Freedom.

Faith had an idea that she was meant to feel freer in prison than she had out there, feeling herself get pulled towards the fiery thrill of evil, like a moth about to burn. She didn’t. She felt trapped and sick.

But she was choosing to submit herself to human laws, human limitations: she was still a Slayer. She’d almost been right in what she’d said to Buffy, in the panting afterglows.

Being a Slayer wasn’t something she did. It was something she was.

Human, but still strong.

Nice use of the prompt. Love the complicated history of Buffy and Faith.

I loved it! I think you captured Faith very well! And I really like the hint of Buffy/Faith!
Wonderful take on the prompt!
