Author’s Notes: This was written for open_on_sunday’s prompt, tag. The title refers to Oscar Wilde’s description of a cynic as one who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.


She never used to check price tags. The point wasn’t that it was expensive; it was that it cost more. Besides, it didn’t matter: she had a credit card and a reputation to uphold.

When the money was gone, she kept her reputation: she was too tough and had worked too hard for her popularity to lose it just because her dad was dumb. But grit alone couldn’t get her that beautiful dress.

Then...

The point wasn’t that the dress was expensive; it was that it cost more than half the others here, and Xander had been willing to pay.

Awwww, I love your comment! And I love their relationship, and that is so why! Cordy being all sad but changing because Xander loved her, but still being awesome and bitchy. I love Cordelia.

Awww...<3 I'm glad I risked Buffy spoilers (luckily there were none) to read this little drabble. I've always thought their relationship was kind of interesting, because they're so different.
Anyway, back to watching episode 18 of season 3! Man I have a long way to go... n.n;

LOL. Isn't The Prom cute?? I have to say the Angel/Buffy dance seems really cliched, but I love love love Xander buying her that dress, and the moment where Jonathan gives Buffy the Class Protector award is so sweet and lovely and adorable.

She's kind of a bitch, but in a good way... lol. I have a thing for villains. I actually started writing some Faith/Buffy pr0n when I was bored in class, but I need to start over because it's really bad.
