femslash11 is concluding. It’s a lovely cross-fandom fest, that always turns out good-quality femmeslash from often very tiny fandoms or rare pairings. The fic I got was a case in point: it was Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen fic! Lola/Ella fic! *gleeeeeeeeeeee*
All The World’s A Stage bysadieflood. You guys! Everyone’s so IC. It’s mostly from Ella’s POV and it’s perfect - I love the parts with her parents. The set-up is that Lola is thrilled to hear that everyone thinks she and Ella are going out, but is disappointed by the lack of controversy. She is selfish, but so charming, and you can really see why Ella likes her so much, even as she’s kind of crushing Ella to bits with her attempts to get rumours flying about their ‘relationship’.
And they go to the junior prom together and there is a totally adorable happy ending :DDD
Now for some other recs:
Sparks Fly When We Touch byaphrodite_mine -- Thor fandom, Darcy/Jane, Darcy/Sif. This has a great first-person Darcy voice, funny and full of pathos. Jane is well-characterised, and the glorious return of Sif made me smile :D
The Next Adventure bysuch_heights -- New Who fandom, River Song/Lady Christina. This is such a fun pairing of naughty space adventurers! And such_heights uses that element in such a cool way, with River and Christina competing to show their time-traveller chops. And being hot and fun.
Don’t Know Where, Don’t Know When bylilacsigil -- New Who/Harry Potter crossover, Martha/Tonks, River/McGonagall. This is worth reading just for the pairings, for my money. Four of my absolute favourite women getting it on, and also saving the world :D Hurray!
Untarnished byoparu -- Harry Potter fandom, McGonagall/Hooch. Set immediately post-DH, in the aftermath of the battle. The sense of the war they’ve come through and the strength of their long relationship is clear, and yet oparu never slips into sententiousness and aaaaangst -- instead there are lovely comic touches. On their own, they'd both waver in their dusty boots, but together, they hang on. D’awww.
A More Promising Beginning byoverthetiber -- BtVS fandom, vamp!Willow/Cordelia. Great Cordy POV, as her Valley Girl persona conflicts with the scary situation. Creepy and sexy and win.
