Merlin 110: The Moment of Truth
Jan. 10th, 2010 09:48 pmLook, it’s the Shire! ...Medieval protection rackets make Lokifan sad.
Merlin 110: In Which Merlin’s Backstory Is All About His Soul-Bond With Arthur
...I never noticed before, but the ‘MERLIN’ at the end of the title sequence is on fire. Does this symbolise that Merlin’s flaming? I say YES.
Merlin and his mum! Yay.
I actually have every sympathy with Uther. Obviously he should try explaining to the other king and requesting permission; but if it’s not granted, sending Camelot’s knights in would be invasion and it could all get very messy.
The Merlin/Arthur goodbye scene was cute.
Yay for Morgana and Gwen! I continue to be amused by the anachronism of Morgana’s feminist!fighting-knowhow, but it’s all very sweet.
“Put the sword down, Merlin, you look ridiculous.” That was FANTASTIC.
“Bring back memories of when I used to beat you?”
“That never happened.” Seriously, SOMEONE BUY ARTHUR AN XBOX. Also, fighting is sexy on both Arthur and Morgana.
Heh. So, Will and Merlin hug, then Merlin’s called away by Arthur and suddenly Will’s all PEASANT BOY SMASH?
MERLIN: *talks up the charms of the simple rural life*
ARTHUR: Sounds... nice. And by nice I mean awful and horrifically grubby.
I love that Arthur is trying to be polite about it all and is so obviously miserable. And that both Uther and Merlin’s mum ship them.
Ten to one Morgana and Gwen are about to start training the women themselves.
“This isn’t about Arthur, this is about your friends. Are you really going to abandon them?” Sorry, what was that, Merlin? I just got whapped in the face by a saddlebag full of irony.
Arthur’s speech was cheesy, but I went with it, mostly because I liked the nod to the Round Table and how Arthur’s becoming more of a king.
Uh-oh...
Win! Let no man say Morgana is held back by lesser upper-body strength!
Merlin and Will back-to-back was sooo cheesy, but I liked it. It’s nice for Merlin to have someone who knows about his magic and says USE IT YOU IDIOT AND SAVE THE VILLAGERS. IT’S NOT LIKE ARTHUR’S GOING TO TWIG IN EPISODE TEN.
...Wow. All credit to the bloke who plays Will, that guy knows how to rock a death scene.
Sad that Arthur doesn’t seem any more willing to like magic after a sorcerer saved his life. But their friendship gets ever cuter and more believable.
