Sorry for the delay… She Who Must Not Be Named’s most recent run of terribleness knocked me off course. I don’t think meta or fic or w/e about Potter is endorsing her, to be clear, but the ‘ugh’ can taint it for me :(



So - I think yes. I tend to think Harry would feel like having Draco’s wand was something unfinished, and he’d return it.

Which could be more or less awkward depending on how things were going legally. (Was Lucius in Azkaban? Was Draco facing trial?)

I think in that conversation Draco might ask about Snape, and perhaps be some combination of pleased and relieved and mightily pissed off. This is actually something I touched on in my fic Sparking Like The Perfect Match, which is Snape/Draco set during DH. It’s relatively close to canon in that Snape is a spy who’s betraying Voldemort, and Draco doesn’t know. He hates Voldemort, but he doesn’t dare fight against him, especially since he’s increasingly close to Snape the Death Eater. When he finds out, part of his reaction is anger: if you’d told me, I could’ve helped you, and been better, and hated myself so much less.

Man, I still think the climax of Harry vs Voldemort would’ve been better if it was Draco throwing the Elder Wand to Harry. That would’ve been great. This moment of Harry and Malfoy’s weird parallel-yet-opposite thing bearing fruit, as they swap wands, this moment of their Seeker skills coming into play as the wand went end over end and Harry caught it, like he always does. Not to mention theme/character-wise: Harry wins because he’s kinder. Draco’s literally marked with the loyalty he swore to Voldemort, but Harry’s the one who saved Draco’s life, who managed to save one of his best friends, not the one who threatened Draco’s family. So Harry wins because he deserves to.

I very rarely do ‘it should’ve been x instead!’ type criticism but in this case I’ll make an exception :) I just love it when themes and character and plot all come together nicely - that’s why I love the ending of Cursed Child so much. “I’ve never fought alone and I never will!” <333

It's art, Harry and Draco in the moment before they kiss, and it's SO BEAUTIFUL YOU GUYS.

The MA's notes said they wanted to "capture a key moment between these boys, because it's something you don't see very often with all the UST between them." And you can really feel that, this moment when things between them change.

I love the colours - gorgeous fire behind them and the pale/green flowers and their House colours painted on them - and their expressions and closed eyes. Draco's hand in Harry's hair, angling him, and Harry's outstretched neck and Adam's apple - the vulnerability, the intensity between them, it's just gorgeous.

Writer’s block has hit me like a train. Not surprising, really; Miss Godfrey and Violet both went home this morning. More importantly for writer’s-block-causing, this has been a stressful week essay-wise, and since I have a big Medieval project and my dissertation due in less than a month, it’s not going to ease off quickly.

And diacon_alley is coming up - which is a source of great excitement, but also effort!

Anyway: writing is far from the only way one can contribute to fandom, so in that spirit, here are the two crack_broom recs I’ve posted so far this month.

Custard Tarts for the Tart by iamisaac (Severus/Draco, 2500 words, NC-17.)
After the war, there are precious few jobs going for ex-Death-Eaters. War-hero Severus, however, finds one for Draco...

This is short, elegant, and utterly engrossing.

It was written for a “catamites” challenge at Daily Deviant, but takes a very different tack from the one you might expect. This Draco isn’t a mistreated, virginal woobie; but neither is he an effortlessly beautiful, charming, superlatively skilled young whore. He’s never brought Snape to orgasm with his mouth alone, and he has to try hard to keep his figure.

He’s Snape’s catamite, and is very aware of his status. It’s a job, despite his feelings for Snape, despite what the world believes; and he must do it well or he’ll be out on the street. But - of course - he loves Snape.

Snape looms over every line of this fic, but even when he appears ‘on screen’ it’s unclear what he feels for Draco. And that works wonderfully: this fic is deep into Draco’s POV, and not only is he unsure of Snape’s feelings, he’s not really concerned with them. He has to focus on pleasing Snape, on being pleasing, for both material and emotional self-protection.

A fic with this premise could be so overblown and melodramatic; instead it’s an elegant, wonderfully characterised snippet of hearbreak.

IT’S REALLY CUTE. I know Snaco is meant to be the cool ship, you know, with fuckloads of angst and Gothic identity crises and kinky kinky sex. But whatever, I am confessing to my love of Snaco fluff. And this is just so cute and I flail at it and beam at it and OH DRACO’S BLUSH.

It’s a G-rated little comic, with an extremely cute, funny, recognisable Snape and Draco. And totally worth checking out just for Snape’s changing expressions as Draco is SUPER-STEALTHY.

Do you enjoy Draco getting fucked by Death Eaters? You don’t? Wow, you put up with a lot being on my flist, huh.

For those who do, I have two recs:

The marvellous drippingcherry has indeed turned my ickle Barty Jr/Draco Crucio drabble into a short, awesomely porny fic: Twisted. It’s AU – Barty survived, and this is immediately post-OoTP. It’s written from Barty’s perspective – second person, which just emphasises the disassociated crazycakes that is Barty Crouch Jr. Very easy to read and the build-up is fantastic. And the sex! So hot. And makes fantastic use of the Cruciatus curse. Seriously, it is so twisted and awesome.

And reikokatsura drew me incredibly cute Snaco art. Draco’s naked and collared in an equally naked Snape’s lap and yet it’s adorable. Blushing, lanky Draco folded awkward onto Snape’s lap, holding onto him, while Snape keeps a proprietary hand on Draco’s thigh. And glares at the Harry who’s just discovered them :DDD
