The hp_creatures fest - YAY! and exams - EUGH!

The prompts are going to be up for grabs very soon! I WANT THEM ALL. OK, maybe not that Fenrir/OC prompt, but far too many. The plan is to grab my favourite, and then write very fast so I can claim another one before someone else gets it. You would not believe how hyper all this is making me.

Some of the flist knows this, but I don't think I've ever said it here: I'm in the middle of exams. This means I'm horribly behind on my reading, so please forgive me. I tend to come online to post and reply to feedback, and read a bit before it's back to the grindstone of revision. It had better pay off, that's all I can say.

Anyway, yeah, I'm going to be horribly behind, but hopefully it means you won't have to read a year's worth of emo posts because I haven't got into my uni.

There are still drabbles up for grabs over here. teenageworrier, I SWEAR I'll get that Angelus/Spike one up tomorrow!

Davis: I don't understand at all. Unless he truly cares, in which case - I understand even less.... Unless this is some bizarre way to bid for the conservative leadership, a longshot, in which case - I totally understand. Politicians, folks.

And hey, how about the UN deliberating over the monarchy? Such a useful thing to do when there's so little wrong with the world. Once upon a time, I felt honoured to attend a seminar with guest Kofi Annan, got all tingly on visiting the UN building in NY. Now, I just feel pissed, dude!

Politics - I'm stepping far, far away from everything politics before I explode! Not healthy.... especially as I am beginning to detect rightwing sympathies within me... disturbing...

I'm positive he cares - he's pretty much the one who got Cameron to oppose 42 days. Which fills me with rage, by the way - I can't believe that bill got through!

Davis has thrown away his career over this, he would have been Home Secretary in two years. Which pisses me off. It was noble, but we could have had a Home Secretary with a passionate belief in civil liberties. Now - not so much.

Davis: It really makes no sense. Lke you say, if he cared so much, then he would have stuck it out until he got to a position where he could do some real good. He's supposed to be politically savvy, quite talented - but I guess we'll see soon enough what it is he's trying to accomplish. In the meanwhile though, I'm just gonna be cynical - I find it hurts less this way when the truth finally runs us over, repeatedly.

I do think he cares - but my guess is that it was partly because of Cameron. He was nearly leader and then Cameron got it, and maybe he wants to be remembered as this great moral politician because he thinks he'll never be leader. Davis is supposed to have a massive ego and not get on that well with Cameron and his minions, and this is a manner of exit that really suits that. I still think he cares a lot about freedom, but maybe I'm a little less cynical than you! *clings to youthful idealism*
