I was told I write like Dan Brown (which I get in the sense that I'm no native speaker and don't have a terribly big vocabulary) and apparently like Arthur Conan Doyle and Edgar Allan Poe which leads me to believe I should start using my middle name.

We need another one that says, I write ...at least not like Stephenie Meyer to go with the Dan Brown one :).

From what I can tell, the algorithms are just about keywords rather than syntax - so you probably just used modern vocab and/or stuff with numbers. (From what I remember, Dan Brown gives lots of numbers: times, speeds, prices...) It doesn't seem terribly exact!

Heh! Well, I think their algorithms are crap, but if it was based on syntax I'd say it meant you write very long sentences and never met a comma you didn't like. As it is, I suspect it means 'big vocab and/or large extract'. It's looking for keywords is all :)

Those are awesome, I'm totally going to steal one to send to my friend and maybe put on my LJ. My original writing apparently is a mix of Chuck Palahniuk, David Foster Wallace and Dan Brown with a twist of Margaret Mitchell. The only one I got repeatedly was DFW, even popped up when analysising fic, there it was James Joyce, DFW with a side of JD Salinger among others. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not, although maybe this means a job in professional plagerism awaits me. Also, I feel really bad that I've only heard of a few of them.
