lokifanIn the wake of Diacon, lots of people (well, lots of people who came) are getting re-enthused about HP fandom. Which is great! It includes me in a lot of ways. However, I’ve still not been reading loads of HP fic, or writing it for that matter.
This is partly because water got on my laptop :( This was 48 hours ago! I thought it would be dry by now! But since there were no scary noises and it was just water, the internet and a former computer-shop-owning relative assure me that in time my beloved laptop will recover. For now, I’m stuck using the family computer. This is a desktop with an extremely unreliable internet connection. Worse, it’s in the dining room, where we spend lots of time, and the screen faces the room.
For the love of God, people. Come on.
Anyway! The big reason for my failure to jump headfirst back into HP, despite being unemployed and so technically having time?
I have been getting into Thor fandom.
You guys, it’s making me so happy.
The fic is SO GOOD. I suspect this might be, as with Inception (though I know nothing of Inception, this is just hearsay) the product of the writers being experienced in other fandoms and coming to this one already knowing how to write. Unless you count the pairings/fics I do not understand, because Marvel, it is a mystery to me.
But Thor/Loki is a BEAUTIFUL mystery. Pseudoincestous, family-tension, you-and-me-against-the-world parallels and opposites? OMG I eat it like candy. And all the stuff with Loki being all I WAS NEVER YOUR BROTHER I DON’T KNOW WHO I AM and Thor taking a leaf out of Alan Ryves’ book (only way less creepily) and being all I claim the right to follow you, I claim you as my own? MY HEART.
I mean, what do I love even more than enemy pairings? Pairings with a history behind them. It’s why Angel and Spike remain a favourite, it’s why the fact that Draco is the first wizard Harry properly meets makes me so happy, it’s why I find Professor X and Magneto as old men far more poignant and shippy than their young selves. And these kids!!
Loki is just so, so awesome. I love him to bits. So clever and so the spare to the heir and so ruthless yet SUCH A WOOBIE. And Thor is so adorable and tries so hard and for all his arrogance he just loves his little bro so much and I CAN’T EVEN. YOU GUYS.
Bit weird reading this fandom with my username, though. I enjoy this Loki (although my favourite Loki of all time remains Luke from Eight Days of Luke) but he is not, you know, the reason I went for this name. Also, reading Loki!porn after a weekend of people calling me Loki at Diacon? Initially, weird.
But I don’t care because the kink meme has Loki fucking himself with Thor’s hammer and lolcat!Loki and bb!Thor protecting bb!Loki from thunder like a TINY BOSS, and I am so happy.
Also, Sif is very cool. Moar Sif/Darcy, plz, it’s adorable.
