Snowflake Challenge: Day 1 & 2

Day 1

In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

It’s a nice way to begin the year and helps me restart, as opposed to purely spending the time catching up from December (though I’ll do some of that too, no doubt). And I love the opportunity to talk about fandom and celebrate it.

Day 2

In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I’ll mention two recent things: the incredibly lovely, long, detailed comments I’ve had on my recent fest longfic, and crying down the phone to son_of_darkness/bestchocobro after Episode Ignis. We watched a playthrough together and texted throughout, which was really fun, and then it was super late but he gave me a fifteen-minute phone call. My voice went super wobbly over Ignis and the tragedy of it all, and there were many tears, and he teased me a bit because that’s our friendship but also kept reassuring me about all the fixit fic. Idk, it was such a lovely and specifically fandom moment: I am absolutely in bits over my fandom, and here I have a BFF on the line, on the same wavelength, totally getting it and talking about the tragedy and the lore and promising me again and again there was lots of fixit fic.
