Two bits of news:
After weeks and weeks, I have a working laptop again! HUZZAH!
I got a tumblr. I still find the place weird and unsettling and I don’t speak the language. And the fact that everyone talks about stuff happening at school, as opposed to uni or work or at home with their kids, freaks me out a bit. I’m perfectly happy to be friends with teenagers. It’s just a really different atmosphere when practically everyone’s a teenager, as opposed to spread out across all ages.
Also getting culture shock from the fact that when you join Tumblr, it has one of those inevitable little ‘four things to do to get started’ lists. These are: follow fifteen tumblrs, upload an avatar, make a post, and post a picture of yourself.
Srsly? And you’re listing that differently from the icon thing? So you literally mean... post a picture of myself?
Between this and the G+ kerfuffle over ‘real names’ I don’t even know anymore. Remember when all we heard about the internet was how if you put up your real name or photo anywhere perverts would kidnap you?
Plus I can already see how credit gets detached from art or occasionally fic so easily on Tumblr. Being crap at Tumblr, I find it actually a little difficult to find and follow the people who actually drew particular bits of amazing Thor/Loki art (or whatever).
BUT. Being an Avengers fan, I wish to be where basically all of fandom is happening. Only it is all still new and weird! Let’s follow each other, guys, plz. I need you in this strange new world. *clings to flist*
I’m lokifan.tumblr.com, natch. For a second when I signed up Tumblr was all ‘that username is taken’ and I was all AM I GONNA HAVE TO CUT A BITCH? but then Tumblr changed its mind. Thank goodness.
Even if being an Avengers fan with this username makes people assume I am a bb!fan. I have had a response or two on the Thor kinkmeme that was blatantly someone kindly explaining to me how kinkmemes work :D

Date: 2012-05-08 04:25 pm (UTC)I've also found that the new feature on Google Image where you can drag a picture in and it'll match it to everywhere it's posted online is invaluable when it comes to reposting on Tumblr.

Date: 2012-05-11 01:14 pm (UTC)The art-focus is cool, though. And the cats and artistic girls with umbrellas are very soothing. Anyway, have followed you :)
