Sorry I’m late, guys. It’s been a weird week.

HP fic

Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect by xylodemon. Minerva & Dumbledore’s Army, PG, ~2700 words. Summary: Over a month had passed, but Hogwarts still smelled of blood and dust and smoke.

Vivid and sad and lovely. I love Minerva’s strained strength, especially during the teachers’ meeting over whether to reopen Hogwarts this autumn. Lots of perfect little lines for the varied characters, and I love how the problem of repairing Hogwarts is solved.

Thor fic

The Gentle Heart (Is A Savage Leash) by saucery. Thor/Loki, NC-17, ~1300 words; discussion of non-con. Summary: Possession goes both ways.

Lyrical style, a gorgeous Thor POV as he tries so hard to protect his brother in the only ways he knows how, and a thoroughly perfect Loki who wins by making himself powerless.

Avengers fic

The Birds and The Bees series by theorytale. Tony/Loki, Tony/Pepper, NC-17, ~9000 words overall; mpreg in a very vague way. Summary: Loki and Tony are never going to have a conventional relationship, but they have a child, and visitation days, and 'asshole' is just a term of endearment, right?

This is UTTER HILARITY. It’s also one of my favourite fanfic things, which is crack played straight so it ends up being weirdly illuminating about character. Tony and Loki have a one-night stand and produce a bizarre child, as you might expect considering Loki’s history. Loads of hilarious dialogue, plus it all ends in Tony and Pepper together and Tony having visitation days with his otherwordly offspring, which I find weirdly satisfying.

Clint and Natasha on the phone while he was in New Mexico and she was ninja-ing at Tony’s. I imagine everyone’s already seen it if they want to, but if you haven’t - check it out, it’s gorgeously done and makes me happy.

This is gorgeous and so striking and I have way too many feelings about the perfection of this art style for an image of Iron Man.

Doctor Who vids

Underneath The Sky by srmcd1. Doctors, Companions and villains. Summary: This song so captures the spirit of Doctor Who, I don't even know where to start with it. All eleven Doctors, traveling the universe in dimensionally-transcendental box that belonged to the friend of a friend (who left her unlocked).

Eee! This perfect song about a traveller with no name and his friends, “amusing themselves”, and every Doctor and so many companions and the Master and the Brig and now I have all these happy ~feelings about Doctor Who.

This necessitated me searching out favourite Who vids, including ones of a very different vibe. This is one of the best examples of vids as transformative works I’ve ever seen, as well as an absolutely perfect encapsulation of how the Doctor’s trickster charm and his Time Lord power slide from one to another and how far Ten really went. It starts with the Doctor playful and jokey as he is, running around and exploring, and then this witty, terrifying shift in tone... And the ending gives me actual shivers.

And then I had to watch something to make me giggle. You’re a regular original know-it-all.
