White Collar 4.08
Sep. 5th, 2012 12:17 pmWhite Collar, I wish I knew how to quit you.
Last week was a glorious pile of madness and polysub text and El being awesome. And now we have the U-boat being described as Alex's "birthright"? REALLY?
White Collar, I would remind you that Alex Hunter's grandfather was a NAZI. That is why he was on the NAZI submarine. That art and treasure does not belong to the descendants of the Nazis, it belongs to the descendants of those the Nazis stole it from. FOR FUCK'S SAKE. Sometimes you are so great and then you are all... this. THE VICTIMS OF THE HOLOCAUST LOST CULTURAL TREASURE AS WELL AS THEIR LIVES AND IT DOES NOT RIGHTFULLY BELONG TO THE DESCENDANTS OF THOSE WHO STOLE IT.
I love Alex Hunter; she's so fantastic in this episode, and I was so excited to see her back with her scheming so she can watch Neal being cuter when he's being manhandled. And then this completely tone-deaf rubbish - in an episode where the antagonist is a Greek minister trying for cultural restoration. I just. So much great stuff and then it's like 'do you hear yourself when you talk?'
Not even getting into the Micronesian people not needing their artefact back due to being "not really a museum culture" because my head will legit explode.
