Misfits 104: Curtis is my boo

So much Curtis! I LOVE CURTIS. Plus it makes me really happy to have an episode heavy on someone other than Nathan. I love ensemble programmes and I like Nathan a lot but there is TOO MUCH NATHAN in series 1. It is meant to be ensemble, not ensemble in a Buffy way, right?
Curtis doing his very best and saving people and YAY. And I have a bit of a soft spot for these kind of overlapping narratives. So yay this episode!
The community centre memorial is so sad! Also, in retrospect? “How did you survive?” to Nathan is such a great, subtle bit of foreshadowing. And poor scrunched!Nathan, so different from the one we know.
The car-stealing and proposal was both pretty funny and a bit of a shame: the first time Misfits has really given in to the chav stereotype.
UGH SIMON. UGH UGH UGH. My vaguely sympathetic Simon feelings took something of a nosedive. UGH. His pause when he finds Kelly is literally just while he looks round to see if anyone's coming! He asks if she's okay and gets no response, and does nothing to check if she is, just tries to sexually assault her before being interrupted. UGH.
Nathan, of course, remains a vivid and excellently-drawn annoying twat, and I do love the scene with his dad. The actor rocks it: it's the same mockery, the same kind of dialogue that always comes out of his mouth, but with bitter lines on his face and a vastly different undertone.
I love the foreshadowing of his later rage-powers with Tony in this episode. It's natural to be extremely pissed off when your car gets nicked and your girlfriend's prospective engagement ring was in it -- but we see in Sally’s reaction, a second before the rage, that anger is clearly a consistent problem with him.
AND NOW SHE HAS FOUND THE CREDIT CARD. WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT?!
