Planning my lesson on fanfic for my four weekly lessons with thirteen-year-olds. I'm making them a quick article, then we're going to talk about it (and that it's being studied at unis, although more in a cultural studies way than lit-crit). I know a bunch of them read it :)

I predict a degree of awkwardness in that:
* you read smut
* they read smut
* you can't recognise either of these facts. :-)

They're young enough that it would never occur to them that I read smut :) I'm not 100% sure they do, either - they're twelve/thirteen, which is when I started taking an interest in porn/sex myself, but idk, they're very much kids. Maybe I just can't keep both those concepts in my head at once about the students!

That may be a prudent policy in any event.

On reflection, I don't know myself. It's the best part of three decades ago, and of course back then we had to walk uphill both ways to find porn in railway sidings.
