Crucio report!
Jul. 6th, 2010 02:52 amSo, this weekend I was at Crucio, the Potter fan meet-up in Edinburgh! It was FANTASTIC.
NB: if you're here from the comm, I'm the one with dyed black hair in a short skirt who laughs really loudly.
Getting there was a bitch – there was a signal failure at Stevenage, a station which almost every cross-country train from King’s Cross passes through. We arrived in Edinburgh three and a half hours late. It was still only about six-thirty so we could eat and hang out and everything, but still. LAME, and it meant that
son_of_darkness,
dora_the_nymph and I had to sleep in a dorm with seven other people instead of getting a three-person room at our youth hostel.
The youth hostel was super-cheap and had murals involving a dragon groping a pink-haired girl, though, so I forgive its ELEVENTY-BILLION STAIRS and snoring roommates.
Besides, the train delays meant I sat behind a five-year-old girl, who I made friends with: she had plastic toys, I had
dora_the_nymph’s Snape and Harry soft toys, it was a match made in heaven. Since Kye is not a fan of children he steadfastly ignored the whole thing... and then gave in. Sparkletoes, as we christened her, instantly named him Prison Princess. I think we can agree she was a girl of taste and discernment.
Especially since when we explained the Snape toy was Snape from Harry Potter, she squealed and said “I’ve wanted to meet him for my whole life!” She hugged him too. When I explained who the Harry doll was, she made a face. <3
Friday involved dinner and catching up with friends, a bit of a wander round Edinburgh with our Native Guides, and hanging out in the hotel bar. I also rolled down a very steep hill in the central park.
son_of_darkness had had the rolling-down-a-hill idea, but after I did it he decided he was too scared. GRYFFINDOR MY ARSE.
On the Saturday there was the picnic, which was stupendous. I got to hang out with another little girl --
lady_of_clunn’s daughter – who gives Doctor Who the appreciation it deserves. Also
utteramusement, who was just as gorgeous and funny as at the last meet-up, and
lkaet, ditto. (NB: EVERYBODY I LIKE SHOULD LIVE IN LONDON, K.) Then there was yet more hanging out with various people, who were fantastic.
The actual meet-up part was wonderful. I absolutely take my hat off to the amazing organisational skills of
nursedarry,
cassieblack, and their helpers. Everyone got adorable ickle Crucio bags with chocolate frogs, fudge, cock soap (yes rly), art and a drabble and a ficlet done specifically for them... There were enough raffle prizes for every person there. I got the most adorable Scorpius-in-pyjamas watercolour EVER, by
leochi.
The games were very cool too! Slytherin won the quiz, BECAUSE WE ARE INHERENTLY SUPERIOR, MWAHAHAHA. Then there was a Family Fortunes style game which was incredibly fun. Slytherin beat Ravenclaw, but lost the final against Gryffindor. Stupid Gryffindors.
Then lots of getting drunk in the bar and talking for hours. I had crazy amounts of fun. (Especially since
scarletladyy’s boy bought her too much wine, and she very generously let me snarfle a large glass of Pinot Grigio). Sunday was YET MORE FUN and hanging out. It was wonderful having the time to do that, and not feeling the usual frantic urgency to meet absolutely everyone I wanted to: there was time to hang out and chat and it was great.
The was absolutely fantastic. (I cannot stop it with the adjectives.) I got to catch up with a whole host of great people who I rarely get to see, which was lovely. I got to meet and talk more to people I didn’t know well, which was awesome. I got a Pansy sketch from
moonlitdark, which filled me with glee – I LOVE her art, and it’s such a great Pansy. She’s all pouty and eyebrow-raisey and it’s very PANSY WILL BITCHSLAP YOU and I <3 it. I also got ridiculously hot Barty Jr/Draco from
drippingcherry. Seriously, darling, I was like squirming in my seat when I read it!! Fantastic.
And now, I shall think of the occasional depressing conversations about Real Life and Getting Jobs and Postgrad Education and Money, Money, Money... and oh yes: Picking A Career.

Very tempting things indeed.

And why thank you, you're quite amusing and easy on the eyes as well *winkywink* I shall also take the remark that was meant for Kate and say HELL YES I'LL MOVE TO LONDON I might need you to be my sugarmamma for a while but well.
Oh that soap, I was just a minute away from eating it I swear!
The only reason why the Gryffindors beat us is because we gave the correct answers not the so called "popular", pfft bet ya it was Hufflepuffs who voted most! We can't be expected to think like Huffies, the game was beneath us. Clearly we won the only respectable game of the evening. And we would have won slutty!Pictionary!
No!! Avoid RL at all costs! Also, who the fuck decided it was a good idea to leave me close to a computer when I have a fever? It seems to make me whiny and slutty from what I remember just typing... oh well.
