Cheese and Whine

I’ve resisted posting about this, partly because my internet access has been extremely sporadic (I went home for two weeks for Easter) and partly because I knew it would be a post of full... well, cheese and whine. You see, I have writer's block.
I hate writer’s block. It’s worse just now because I’m revising for my exams. I keep opening my laptop to make notes on Russian formalism – no, the revision isn’t going that well – and when I have my laptop open and I’m working on documents, it’s completely ingrained for me to open a current WIP or two, and work on them. And I just can’t. And even when I try, and get all ‘I shall push through the block’, the ideas just “go small and stupid and won’t go anywhere”, to quote Quentin Sykes. And my metaphors have dried up.
I’m hoping the block will lift soon: I haven’t had it for a year, and I tend to get it due to stress. Being at home is very stressful for me, and it was worse than usual this time – my mother and sisters being demons, and the wireless being crap, and the looming spectre of exams between them made me a bit crazy. And since the last time I had writer’s block it was towards the end of my A Level exams and went away after about a week, four days after my last exam, I do have hope.
So, hopefully I’ll write soon. I can at least get a long-finished fic beta-read now I have wireless again. But either way, I thought I should say hello.
