Oh and it’s all gone horribly wrong in an instant. Looks to be an exciting episode!
I must admit the Witchfinder’s bondage cart reminds me of nothing so much as the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Okay, seriously. SERIOUSLY. It’s got a high collar rather than a hood, I suppose to suggest Stuart/Puritan righteousness, but once again: DO NOT ALLOW ENTRANCE TO ANYONE IN A BLACK CLOAK.

OMG. This is all really scary and horrible. Poor Gaius, and the Slash Dragon doesn’t know how to help. *wibbles* Not Gaius!

Ohh. That whole Gaius/Merlin scene was heartbreaking, marshmallow that I am.

The bastardry is predictable, but still awful.
Merlin seriously hides under a lot of beds. Presumably this comes up in fic?

*wibbles* Gaius looking up at the first – and what he thinks will be the last, for him – touch of dawn! And them dragging him about. HORRIBLE.
“You can show some faith in an old friend or you can stand by and watch an innocent man die. You did it once before to my father.” OUCH, GWEN.
Yay! Go Merlin counterfeiting evidence!
...I see why they did the frog thing but it’s really fucking weird. What, magicians spontaneously spit frogs in times of stress?
LOL. What a classic way to get rid of a nasty villain without having a protagonist kill them – DEFENESTRATION FTW!
It’s nice seeing Gaius back in his embroidered red and blue.
Ooh, absolutely loved the Gaius/Uther scene. You could just feel the rage coming off Gaius in waves. I am interested in his backstory and how he sees his world. He’s said before that he remembers every magician – innocent or otherwise – killed in the Great Purge and since. He chose to collaborate with Uther to survive, and he’s counselled caution with Merlin, and now he’s found that caution and loyalty will still not protect him. It must make every betrayal, every little guilt, every time he’s chosen not to act, seem pointless. This is a definite break between them.
LOL adorable explanation for the toad. I know I’ve said this before, but – much as I feel like a bad slasher, my favourite scenes in Merlin are usually the Gaius/Merlin ones. :)
