Saturday rec post: don't forget to take care of yourself

Recs, get ’em while they’re hot! No unifying theme this week, although you can see how much I gravitate to hurt/comfort when I join a new fandom. It’s the first thing I looked for in White Collar, Thor, and now Sherlock.

Harry Potter fic

The Insomniacs’ Social Club by delphi (gen featuring Filius Flitwick, Argus Filch, Sybill Trelawney, Septima Vector & Aurora Sinastra, G, 2k.)
This is an incredibly charming idea (without being fluffy), written in funny prose and excellently characterised. You end up just smiling at your computer.

I love moonlitdark’s style, and this art is just so cute! And hits my clothed/naked kink. Harry’s little smile, his hands on Draco’s arse... yes please!

Drinking Games by ariadneelda (Sirius/Bill, NC-17.)
This is incredibly atmospheric. And to quote my own comment: Love Sirius' predatory grin and tongue and Bill's smirk. Both their bodies are incredibly hot - love Sirius' arse in the black jeans and Bill's cock and just. The sense of their relationship and focus on each other and just-about-to-get-off-ness comes across incredibly strongly.

How To Tame Your Dragon by chiakidark (Harry/Draco, PG.)
This is fanart for enchanted_jae’s Coveted, so it’s dragon!Draco (done with lovely wings and detail) being petted by INCREDIBLY CUTE tiny!Harry, who’s smiling up at his dragon with a heart floating off his head. AWWWWW.

Thor fic

I Love You by tristhe (Loki/various people, NC-17, ~2kish I think.)
This is a great little myth/film amalgamation: five times Loki lied, and one time he only sort of did. I love me a bit of manipulative Loki, and it has this perfect Loki line: Why did he even try? ...Asgard never changed, because Odin never changed. Poor little agent of chaos. And then it ends with this little love-among-the-ruins moment between Thor and Loki and I am so happy.

Night Heat by autumnokami (Thor/Loki, NC-17, ~1500-words-ish I think. Incest.)
I love this Thor -- simple, but not stupid -- and this sulky Loki. The sex is hot, and there’s wonderful heat/lightning imagery that’s just perfect.

Fill by bagheera_san (Thor & Loki gen, R, 2k-ish. Violence and implied non-con.)
This is woobie!Loki being rescued by protective!Thor from Odin’s betrayal and those nasty Frost Giants. Which has some appeal for me, but what makes this fic fantastic is the poignant, perfect little scene that ends it, and the reminder for Thor that Loki is always tougher than you think he is.

Sherlock fic

5 Times Someone Looked After Lestrade (In a Small, Quiet Way) and 1 Time He Needed Serious Minding - And Got It by Anonymous (Lestrade gen featuring Sherlock, Donovan, Anderson, an OC, Mycroft and John, PG, ~1k.)
This is just a little snippet of delight. Everyone is so IC - Sherlock and Donovan and Mycroft and John and Anderson, and their ways of looking after Lestrade, are perfect. And also, LESTRADE. Bein’ all stoic. ♥

Wrong Order by dayja (gen featuring Donovan, Anderson, Sherlock, John, and Lestrade, G, ~2800 words. Warnings for reference to dead children.)
Anderson and Donovan play a trick on Sherlock and he nearly dies. So we get well-characterised Lestrade and John and Sherlock, and also a bit Doctor!John. And I love that this is from Donovan’s POV and she actually takes responsibility while Anderson is a weasel. Because that is totally how I see them. Like in canon, she’s abrasive but basically reasonable in all her thought processes and assumptions, and mostly I think ‘good for you!’ Whereas Anderson just makes me want to punch him all the time. It’s how he talks to Lestrade, and also he has a punchable face.

Sorry cannot control the capslock! Seriously. This is so gorgeous. And also, as I mentioned to kabal42 recently, tough characters being weakened in some way and pretending that’s not true? BULLETPROOF KINK. (In a narrative way not a sex way.) So yes, this comic is my favourite thing.
