Still working on this meme! The Buffy questions and the anime questions will be answered in a bit. Because I have a problem.
Discussion and disagreement welcome :D
entrenous88 asked for my Top Five Favorite Fanfic Cliches in Sherlock.
Erm... I haven’t read enough Sherlock to get a firm grip on the cliches, unfortunately. But I will give it a go!
5. Sherlock getting deflowered. I love virginity!kink but it’s often not Sherlock getting ‘deflowered’ that works for me so much as ladies’ man John Watson getting to teach Sherlock about his body and have an excellent time. Also John getting to teach/show Sherlock something. Because it is often HILARIOUS. It also does work based on canon - Sherlock is very clever but his knowledge is very specific - and also allows John to be patient and snarky and BAMF. And these are things that I love.
4. Sherlock comes back and John is righteously pissed off and angsty for ages. <333 My poor John.
3. Dom!John. Because dom!John is sexy. (My favourite line in canon: “Captain John Watson.”) I sort of find dom!Sherlock more likely, but also he would... well, with John I think it might work, so I can read it and enjoy it. But mostly I just think YOU WOULD BE THE WORST DOM IN THE WHOLE WORLD. Whereas I like John kind of going “listen to your doctor” and being caring and tough and going for what he wants and getting it for once, and Sherlock for once being able to trust someone else fully - ie even when he can’t predict exactly what they’ll do.
2. Fic about Molly being vulnerable and real and awesome. Particularly if it involves Irene/Molly. I have said this a million times, but I love the mirroring of Sherlock & Irene because it’s like my favourite storytelling device. And it makes me love Irene/Molly, because it’s just like “here, have Sherlock’s shadow version except WAY LESS OF A DICK. She will have sex with you and only be mean in that context. Enjoy!”
1. Fic that calls back to ACD in some way. Versions of “if you came down to Scotland Yard today, every man there would shake your hand” have a particular ability to reduce me to pure wibble.
creatore_magico asked for my (multifandom) top five ADORABLE moments... Just when the characters are being all kinds of CUTE!>
Top Five Adorable moments! Awesome! Although finding CUTE as opposed to touching (ie, the Buffy/Dawn hug at the end of Forever) is quite hard.
5. Buffy, Willow and Xander’s dates conversation in First Date. S7 is so full of angst and light on core-Scooby time, and then we get this lovely light, affectionate conversation full of great lines while Willow sorts laundry. Adorable. <333
4. The bit in the Misfits Christmas special where they all sing a carol. Its rampant OOC, not-quite-part-of-the-narrative-ness in no way makes it less adorable to me. Partly because it’s so funny.
3. Any point in Legend of Korra with Bolin and his panda. SO CUTE. SO CUTE I MIGHT DIE.
2. The bit in No 6 - can’t remember the episode - with Chien reading to the slum kids. SO CUTE.
1. The bit in Power of Three with Amy and Rory on the sofa (EATING FISH FINGERS IN CUSTARD OMG) and then the Doctor bouncing in between them. It felt like I was being forced to find them cute, and I gave in with barely a token struggle. PONDS.

delorispea asked for my Top Five Beauty/Clothes loves
1. Alisha from Misfits. She’s incredibly pretty, and I love the way she dresses. Whenever she appears I check out her outfit: cool trainers, fun jewellery, pretty tops... <3
2. Faith from BtVS/AtS. SO HOT. SO FUCKING HOT. To my mind Eliza Dushku was never that hot again, partly because as Faith she’s all busty and tough-looking, not so thin that she looks vulnerable. But it’s also just the Faith-ness. Just. The lips, the eyes, the intensity. And I do love her wardrobe: it’s always so perfect for the character, from the big clumpy boots to the red and white vests to the dark jackets. Also, yay tattoo!
3. Thor from the MCU. Incredibly hot - I do have a bit of weakness for beefcake, and he is just so blond and muscled and charming. And I love his wardrobe: the scarlet cape, the wardrobe designed to make his shoulders seem even more ridiculously huge, the more stripped-down armour of Avengers, and especially the adorable plaid-and-jeans when he’s lost his powers in Thor. Always speaks to where his character is, and also emphasises that he is the hottest.
4. Diana from White Collar. Such a hottie and I love her outfits, especially in the office: women in waistcoats and sleeveless tops are my jam.
5. Ten. He is terribly gorgeous, and I like his big coats and his pinstripes. But I especially love his shoes - and how could I let this topic go by without a tip of the hat to the Converse that became my default icon?
ginger_veela gave me Top five awesome Loki moments.
I am going with Marvel!Loki here, because the conflation of Marvel!Loki with myth!Loki does not work for me (a post about this is forthcoming).
5. “And you were killed by the son of Odin.” The boy is quivering on the edge by that point, juuust about to slip off. But I like the moment, and him saving Frigga, and the attempt at self-definition before his whole denial-via-genocide thing really kicks off.
4. Getting captured for his own purposes, and then basically standing there smugly while Fury is visibly like I CAN TELL WE’RE PLAYING INTO YOUR HANDS BUT HOW? and he’s just LOL.
3. “Are you ever not going to fall for that?” LULZ.
2. Turning the wine into snakes at the start of Thor. It just strikes me as wicked and funny and mischievous, while also being very mean - that poor servant!
1. Inventing a plan to stop Thor’s coronation based entirely on his ability to predict Thor’s behaviour. That is proper master-manipulator behaviour.
bohemiabythesea asked for my top 5 D/s-moments in White Collar.
HOW SHALL I CHOOSE.
5. Neal’s name. There are lots and lots of bad puns in White Collar - it’s one of the things I love about it. Neal’s escape via a bakery he just bought and named THE GREATEST CAKE is probably my favourite, but there are puns in the names too - notably the villain Fowler. (A criminal mastermind named Adler is probably a pun too; certainly a reference.) The showrunner clearly loves them - his initial tagline for the programme was “his sentence ended with a proposition.” So I am extremely inclined to think naming this character who is instantly submissive and responsive to authority he trusts Neal is a pun.
4. El telling Neal to lie to Peter. I can only cope with this by interpreting it as El basically pulling rank in a way she has never been pushed to before and focussing on the angsty D/s subtext instead of... you know, all the canon angst. :(
3. When Neal is on the run and Peter tells him he has one minute to explain why and why he’s innocent, and he starts talking in this rush to prove that he’s being framed, and then he stops by himself, and Peter asks why. “My minute is up.”
That’s a good boy, Neal.
2. There is this fantastic scene in Flip of the Coin where Peter and El are having a classic husband-wife tiff in Peter’s office, and Neal looks REALLY AWKWARD and tries to leave, and neither of them will let him. It’s incredibly funny, and also it shows the less overt but definite D/s dynamic between El and Neal. Everyone sits there looking hot, Neal in his waistcoat and El in her black suit and Peter in his shirt, El and Neal all wide blue eyes and dark hair, and Neal keeps trying to leave and El is all STAY, GOOD BOY and Neal totally obeys her over Peter but is generally good for both Sir and Ma’am. <333
1. “I own you for four years. You okay with that?”
“Yeah.”

Date: 2013-02-11 03:11 pm (UTC)I "blame" Ten and RDJ equally for my thing for suits + trainers. (RDJ = current personal fashion icon, amongst favourite other less savoury things. I love the strange choices that magically work for him, the "I can dress well enough to outshine the entire Golden Globes, but I don't care when I don't have to - sweat-pants and mis-matched t-shirts are go!)
Conflating Loki with Loki: SO THERE WITH YOU! I have a bit of a peeve there. Being Scandinavian probably helps ;-) Marvel Asgardians =/= Norse gods. Ok? Clear, fandom? In other words: looking forward to that post from you :-)

Date: 2013-02-11 05:31 pm (UTC)Haha, yep, I imagine being Scandinavian would definitely help on that front. And SERIOUSLY. I must get that post written up... at this point it is mostly scattered thoughts about fanfic vs interpretation, how doing ~ah but in the OLD tales is always obnoxious, and also OMG LOKI IS NOT LOKI. AND THAT'S OKAY.
I am not generally annoyed when people do it... but I begin to be peeved if they assume I mean the Marvel character rather than the god, as they generally do these days!

Date: 2013-02-11 05:41 pm (UTC)It does *G* Mostly that our gods are really not like that… So please, don't try to do that, because invariably, dear writer, it doesn't make sense.
Ahyes, I can totally understand that!
