Avengers fic

Five Interventions the Avengers Held For Each other and One They Held For Loki by silverfoxflame. Teamfic with some Tony/Loki, ~2500 words, Teen. Summary: The next time, they had an omelet bar, champagne and a banner without penises on it. Also, Jane Foster was there. Thor seemed delighted when he stepped into the room and everyone toasted him with a jubilant, “Intervention!” or ‘The Avengers hold interventions a la How I Met Your Mother’.

Really funny, and not so cracky as to be purely parodic. Thor’s intervention is my favourite: the Avengers split into two based on whether they’re intervening over Thor’s addiction to Pop Tarts or his ‘brother complex’.

Five Times Synaesthesia was a Problem for Tony Stark by sonora_coneja. Tony/Bruce, ~4000 words, R. Summary: Tony struggles to deal with his synaesthesia most of his adult life. Can he ever find somebody who understands what he’s dealing with?

I’m generally not a Science Bros girl at all - their connection is cute in the movie, I have no desire to read fic about it beyond ‘if one of my special favourites posts one, I’ll check it out.’ But this is a really nice character study and doesn’t vanish Pepper.

Okay so this is set to the healing incantation song from Tangled. Which, let’s be real, I thought would be ridiculous. Actually weirdly very effective and sad - not least because in this context, it’s not a healing incantation but a forlorn hope. Poor Thor :(((

Because I’m Awesome by futuresoon. Black Widow. Summary: Black Widow beat you, 'cause she's awesome.

The poppy, perky song choice and the swift editing and the fact that there’s an emphasis on Natasha’s l33t hacking skills as well as her asskicking ability? I watched this three times in a row and smiled every time.

Doctor Who vids

Howl by such_heights. Amy, Rory, & River (Amy/Rory, River/11). Summary: Be careful of the curse that falls on young lovers.

*clutches heart* WHAT DO I DO WITH THESE FEELINGS. I love this vid so so much. Love is a psychopath, and all the Ponds - Amy, Rory, and RIver - have proven more than once that they’ll let the universe burn to protect the people they love. And like. I really have no sense of how moral that is, but it’s something I adore. (See also: Narcissa Malfoy, and how “there is nothing I wouldn’t do any more” made my heart hers forever.) And this vid is all about that, and the relationships and similarities between them. And I love it. I am not a big fan of guns, especially guns on the TARDIS, but I do actually love the montage of Ponds with big fuck-off guns and eyes of steel. At the same time there’s something kind of tragic about it? But yeah, I love it - especially how the Doctor is there at the start, a catalyst, and then at the end as River’s love interest, but this is a million miles from a “the Doctor corrupts his companions” vid - because it was all inside them, the ruthlessness and devotion. And the final shot of the Doctor’s face is perfect.

Also it brings back the strength of my conviction that the good man who goes to war is Rory, and how there’s something really tragic about how he changes.

This vid is so great, and also really weird for me because like, it’s such a camp song - not camp in the sense of effeminate, but really turned-up-to-11 and sparkly - and here it’s both charmingly pompous and flaily and undertones-of-darkness and silly all at once. Very Eleven.

Oh, oh. I've already read those two fics (unusually for me considering one is Loki/Tony), and I know I adored them both, particularly the synesthesia one, it was so interesting and a tiny bit hurt/comforty heartbreaking to start with iirc.

That Black Widow vid though, so good. :D

Unsurprising, really - I am always behind with Avengers stuff :) And yeah, definitely kind of heartbreaking - how Howard reacts, and Tony later wondering if Howard had had it too.

Also possibly unsurprising I've read them considering just how I've been going through the AO3 tag for complete Avengers stuff. I think I read everything non-Loki in the first 20 odd pages (sorted by kudos), and then most of the next however many I'm at now. Yeah. I kind of fell down the rabbit hole.

Actually I often love the fics where someone breaks my heart and then is slowly (becoming) healed. I like the hurt/comfort thing, even when it's not specifically written as that.
