I keep meaning to post about this and not, because recently I’ve been at work 9am - 8:30pm. (But much of it isn’t paid hours. The gig economy sucks.) BUT THAT’S RIDICULOUS cos it was crazy.

Three weeks ago was Kupocon, this great little Final Fantasy con. This was my second and I was, once again, very very aware that I’d be getting a lot more out of it if I knew the franchise; it’s a tight-knit little community and I’m bad at joining it in certain ways. Didn’t dance and/or talk to strangers enough for how much fun I had when I did it. BUT still SO fun <3 I didn’t go to the actual programming; I saw some good friends and a BFF, and bought too much gorgeous art and laughed a lot and ate and drank far too much and… got kinkshamed by King Regis.

SERIOUSLY.

This was sometime between 11pm and midnight. @bestchocobro/sodsta is legless, I’m only slightly less drunk but still trying to look after him. @bestchocobro’s girlfriend has gone to bed, so it’s just the two of us in our hapless drunken state. We see a luggage trolley on the way back to the party.

S: Me and Girlfriend wanna get one of those. It’d be great for kink - you could tie someone up and - *gestures broadly*

Me: ? Ohhh, right! Yeah!

S: You could move them really easily -

Me: Yeah! *clambers onto the luggage trolley and kneels up on it, with hands round the weird gold baton thing at the top, as if asking to be cuffed to it* OMG, why isn’t this a classic pervertible? You guys are actually geniuses!

S: Yeah, you could -

Me: *sees Jon Campling - venerable actor, epic beard-owner, daddy of Final Fantasy XV, and King Regis - coming down the corridor towards us, on the phone to someone. Our eyes meet*

Me (in tones of anguish): Oh my God.

Jon Campling: *grins*

S: *turns around, sees, makes sound like duck hacking up a swan*

Jon Campling: *continues along his merry way past us, clearly enjoying the horror he’s inflicted, while I scramble off the luggage trolley and try to look like someone who doesn’t even know what a ‘pervertible’ IS*

Me & S: *tell everyone we see for the next hour that we were KINKSHAMED BY REGIS oh my GOD*

We actually didn’t tell everyone immediately on seeing them, and I even saw people that night and never actually went for OH MY GOD THE BEST WORST TALENT-AT-CON ANECDOTE JUST HAPPENED TO ME, which I feel deserves some credit.

Worst part? S was cosplaying Prompto, whereas I was in a random clubbing dress and have pink-purple-and-blue hair. S is a fantastic Prompto and the best at the con (she says without bias :p) but also, you can’t swing a giant sword without hitting a Prompto at Kupocon. My hair is distinctly more memorable.

I might see him in October and watch him remember that time he caught me kneeling on a luggage rack, cheerfully yelling with my drunk friend about how great it’d be for kink.

KINGSHAMED

Yay! My Neville/Draco fic I Want The Hard Centre (Not The Chocolatey Shell) got nominated for Sexiest Smut Story: Slash Couple at hpfanficfanpoll. I’m very pleased, especially since I am always wanting more rarepair fanwork in these things. Nominations are open for another week!

Also, I watched all of No. 6 with son_of_darkness and marbletables this weekend and it is amazing and I love it. Utopia that turns out to be a dystopia! A cynic/idealist pairing! A love story that changes both its lovers! Hilarious survivalist girl! Heartbreaking sweet mama! Interestingly done pimp! People on the edge of society who build a home! Rat, who does not know how to use his words and is a Shakespeare fan and an actor and a revolutionary; and Shion, who is sweet, except when people threaten Rat’s welfare, and optimistic and reads to the local kids and believes that humans will help each other and that walls between us should be brought down. ( mostly nonspecific spoilers and flail )

I am not properly back from hiatus - the course finished on Friday, but there is lots of RL STUFF going on! But I do have time to do a belated thank-you post, for all my birthday goodies.

I got really adorable vgifts: a nommable chocolate torte from winter_june, heart balloons from kitty_fic, a quill and ink from austen_kiss, party hats from hull1984, and balloons from nenne. Thank you all so much! The birthday message from drarryxlover was also very much appreciated :) Oh, and the very sweet birthday posts from murielle, shapinglight, and alisanne were lovely.

AND. I got BIRTHDAY FIC. It was very exciting!! babydracky, sweet as ever, posted an angsty H/D ficlet with a Thor-n-Loki bday banner at the top, because she wins at ALL the fandoms. And at being adorable. AND secretlypadfoot, who apparently has some crazy secret agenda to give me a heart attack, I don’t even know, posted SURPRISE NEVILLE/DRACO SPANKING FIC. LIKE A BOSS. DRACO YELLS FOR NEVILLE TO STOP AND THEN FOLLOWS HIM IN A HALF-BUTTONED SHIRT LIKE ‘WHY’D YOU STOP?’ AND NEVILLE IS ALL GENTLE BUT DOMLY AND GAGS HIM WITH A SLYTHERIN TIE. NO I CANNOT TURN OFF THE CAPSLOCK RIGHT NOW.

In the more RL-ish realm, I also got these GORGEOUS pinky-purpley hand-knit gloves from mokatiki and my very own copy of How I Live Now from dora_the_nymph. SO PLEASED. And son_of_darkness gave me what we’ve christened the Slut Shoes. They are bright red with six-inch heels. He’s got a pair that’s a bit bigger, and neither of us can walk in them for very long. But that doesn’t matter much, since walking is manifestly not the activity the Slut Shoes are meant for :)

Despite the crazy busy and stress of the actual day, I’ve had a lovely birthday all told and I haven’t even made my parents take me for Indian food. Thank you so so much darlings; you make my life and my birthdays so much brighter. ♥ ♥ ♥
